Avast is a well-known brand in the world of cybersecurity. It is famous for its superb malware detection, web security and other security features, such as a boot-time scanner as well as a virtual desktop. The software can also be used with multiple devices, and includes an unpaid VPN.

Avast also offers a range of security tools aimed to protect information. Its Sensitive Document Shield can be used to detect sensitive documents, such as invoices, tickets and resumes. It did not find any sensitive documents however, on the computer I tried it on.
Avast’s email protector can scan your account for suspicious attachments and phishing links. It also offers an option called Bank Mode that provides a virtual desktop that is safe from keystroke screen capture attempts, loggers and other malicious applications. Avast offers a good privacy policy. The company claims to only collect data that is necessary to protect. Its analytics business Jumpshot sells data only after it has been removed from the database.
